Job Description

The Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) will provide specialized care to patients undergoing dialysis treatments, ensuring their safety, comfort, and overall well-being. You will work closely with nephrologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ health status and monitor vital signs before, during, and after dialysis treatments.
• Administer dialysis treatments according to established protocols and individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and their families about dialysis processes, diet, and medication management.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting all care provided and any changes in patient condition.
• Ensure adherence to infection control standards and safety protocols to prevent complications.
• Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families.
• Participate in staff training and professional development activities to enhance clinical skills.
  
  

Other Functions

• Trains newly hired dialysis nurses and leads education activities
• Performs other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Current active RN license
• Two years' experience with administering hemodialysis treatments
• Maintains certification as a Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN)
• Hold a current, active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) course completion card.
